centre to run) being short and stubby you can pull them around a bit if the
start of your hole looks off centre, also be aware that you have to allow
for the fact that what you see will include the start of the thread, you
have to try to visualise the missing bit of the diameter.<snip>
Unfortunately, over here in the states we can't get centre drills. We have
to settle for center drills. ;-) (OK, OK enough semantic jokes)
Might I add that I have never accomplished this trick to my complete
satisfaction. I've come fairly close on occcasion but usually I end up
with a hole with threads on one side only. These old eyes aren't what they
used to be and sometimes I just don't take the time to get started right.
Anyway, it's due mostly to lack of practice. I can't stress enough how
important it is to get the hole centered right at the begining. Once you
start reaming it out the hole center is already where it is going to be and
if it is off center, it's too late.
