Dave,

It is held in by friction.  It is inserted onto a rubber bushing and the
inlet piece has inward facing barbs to prevent it from working its way out.
 To remove it simply grasp it firmly and waggle it around in an arc whilst
pulling on it to gradually work it out.  Take care to not break the fitting
as it is plastic.  To reinstall simply push it in.  Since it is round and
press to fit you can rotate it to any position you like.
