Sean- I would say the paired wire is your speaker pair, and the single is your power. I have an AM/FM from a 70's Spit MkV which is primarily that way. I also have a little + - switch on the back, and it is to switch the polarity to match the car. You will need to attach a grounding wire to the body of the radio somewhere, and also an antenna to properly check it out.
