The Mini was here in the US through the 1967 model year, but not in great 
numbers (maybe 10,000 total sales). It was around much longer in Canada, though.

Of course, if you want LIGHT cars, try the original Spitfire 4/Mk2 models, at 
around 1620 lb. "kerb" weight. And if you want REALLY light cars, how about 
some of the Triumph Herald/Spitfire powered Fairthorpe Electron Minors, with a 
"kerb" weight just under 900 lb, or the Rockette with the Triumph 6, weighing 
in around 1100 lb (just think, maybe 1/4 - 1/3 of the weight was the engine)!
