I elected to keep the old style main seal when I rebuilt my engine,
mostly because the original hadn't given me any trouble. The old seal,
didn't drip much (much less than my more modern cars do), and the new
seal, set up using a Moss alignment piece, drips even less.

That, combined with the stories I've heard about incorrect machining of
the crankshaft for the new type of seal, makes me perfectly happy with
it the way it is.
