TR6 fuel problem

I seem to have a bit of a fuel problem with my 74 TR6 PI. Sometimes when
I put my foot down, there is a lull, then suddenly it picks up and
surges away again. I can't find anything wrong with the accelerator
linkage, and the fuel pump seems to be fine, albeit a bit noisy. What do
I do next?
