NO THEY DID NOT!  They mandated an oxygenating agent.  Big oil likes it to
be MTBE, because they make it.  The farm lobby wants it to be ethanol,
because they grow the material.  We have farmers in Minnesota, not oil
companies, so it's never been MTBE here, always ethanol.

So the farm lobby actually saved us from the groundwater pollution.  Then
again the folks on West Seventh Street don't much like the smell from the
ethanol plant at Minnesota Brewing.  The smells from brewing Pig's Eye
Pilsner and Landmark beer seemed not that strong, but this ethanol plant
brings tears to your eyes.  I can smell it sometimes at my place on the
other side of the Mississippi.
