Joe,

Here's the best "proof" that increasing electrical load increases the power
needed to spin the alternator:  When you hook up jumper cables to start a
car with a dead battery, have you noticed how the car that's running (with
the "good" battery) drops its RPM's as you attach the last cable?  Think
about why those RPM's are dropping.
