This is very useful in determining where an oil leak is coming from .

Certain models (very limited in number) later demonstrated deposits
indicating a possibility of what many thought was white metal  in
over=revved or hard-used engines. This in fact was a micro-cannister
in the sump that contained particles of 'glitter' removed from the
Christmas Trees along the assembly tracks. Usually found in cars after
100,000 miles and where the BMIHT certificate states early January
build. Cars made later in the year *never* never seemed to be equipped
with this feature.
