Well what a surprise I had on Saturday, I spent the entire afternoon with
Susan Hensley, Brad Kahler and John Lye in Standardsville Virginia, this is
also where John has his restoration shop and engine rebuild shop, Brad's in
training in Baltimore and Susan was in for the weekend. Standardsville is a
very old and beautiful colonial town in the Blue Ridge mountains just north
of Charlottesville. We had a nice lunch in a fine B & B with a beautiful
french restaurant, then took a tour of John's shop. 2 very nice Jag getting
a complete resto, and 2 Chaterham, one brand new being assembled (John is a
distributor) and the other repairs after a front end collision, and then the
real jewel, John's T/R 3 having a new engine rebuild in the final stages of
installation, not much of a engine, 12.75 to 1 compression, 92 mm pistons,
aluminum fly wheel, headers, full cam, dual Webers, Mallory ignition, sway
bars, just a little weekend ride John says, a very neat car, and also his
shop. Always a good time meeting with list people and hobbiest, especially
these 3 with the very same interests "Triumphs" and more "Triumphs", great
time guys and "Gal", thanks for letting me tag along. "FT"
