76 tr6 regulator wiring

regulator went bad in alternator; was over charging; replaced it ;
igniton light doesn't light
 then battery wouldn't hold charge;
then ignition switch shorted out;
replaced battery & switch
still no ignition light
just noticed alternator was hot
not sure if i have a short or i wired regulator wrong, car is charging
properly.
black wire is pluged top left
red is pluged 2nd down on right
white was taped off like the old one.
HELP!!!!
