Carl-
Never having had the ODrive, I never realized how 'high' in todays
comparisons the engine revs. It was always neat to watch the 'needles'
Speedo and tach' to move in 'synch. Now with lower highway gearings the
vogue in modern cars, I really notice the high rpms on the hiway.
Also checking with my GPS, which was verifying the accuracy of the
Speedometer which was within 2mph with the Interceptor all across the
country, even at speeds between 75 and 90. What I've thus learned with the
GPS in the TR4, is the Tach/Speedo relationship in the TR, while reading as
it always did, is that 3000 is not 60 (56 GPS), 3500 is not 70 (64 GPS), and
4000 is not 80 (75GPS). Makes me wonder why I used to get all those tickets
in Oklahoma (could it have been it was a Red Rdstr and the Long-Hair & Anti
War sticker)
I really don't want to run her at 4500 or higher- not a college kid anymore,
and want to ensure the fan blade balance is not 'unacceptable first'.
On the positive side, the responsiveness of the engine since the top end
renewal is incredible- don't ever remember feeling the pep as it is now.
Was it worth the 3 1/2 years= YUP! However, I'm still longing for better
bodywork, more engine bay upgrades
(Valve cover) and an Overdrive someday!

- plus I
recently bought overdrive and the newer tranny has the thicker lipped bell
housing from later years - maybe you have it too with your '65.
