THis upcoming winter I am finally putting CV joints (no more Roto-flexes) on my
Spit bodied 2.5L GT-6. Since I have had two diff failures in the past 4 years,
I will also be replacing the diff with a 2nd gen RX7/Miata (like GRM has done
with their Ro-Spit). I have aquired the diff housing along with the stub axles
and drive axles (that will be cut in half - using the inner CV joints and axle
shaft) and am searching for "the needle in a haystack" 82/83 Mazda B2200 diesel
P/U diff with the 3.3:1 ratio. Otherwise I will have to use a 3.9:1 ratio RX7
diff.
I am looking for a segment of a rear frame to use as a fixture that I can place
on a workbench to develop the required attachment ears onto the Mazda casting to
mate with the existing Triumph frame. I need only the last 2.5 ft of frame
length - the cradle the houses the diff (4 ft for a late '70s Spit frame with
the rear bumper extensions). This frame segment could be hopelessly rusty or
from a frame that was tweaked in a wreck.
Anyone out there parting out a Spit or GT-6 and willing to sell of a piece of
their frame? I am located in metro Detroit and would be willing to travel a
fair distance to pick up the frame segment. I hope to aquire the frame segment
by late Nov.
