Bonnet Dzus Fasteners, How do I install?

I am now ready to install the bonnet Dzus fasteners, but I am not sure which 
way the washers should face and by what method I should compress the washer.  
A while back I either read or found on the internet, some illustrations on 
how to position and compress the washer.  Can anyone refer me to the site or 
publication, or explain in detail a meithod for attaching to the bonnet.
