It's probably worth mentioning that Mordy Dunst can make custom figure-8
gaskets (and head gaskets) from solid copper, in your choice of thicknesses.
See http://www.headgasket.com/ . His prices are somewhat high compared to
mass-produced items, but are very fair for "one of a kind" items.
Has anyone on the list tried his gasket sealer ?

They're probably no longer asbestos, but the copper clad composition gaskets
are still available from all the usual suspects.

Last set I bought was soft copper, which I believe was the original
construction. The plastic coating came later.
