ignition switch on (red light displayed) and trying to get the fuel guage
working when it was ignition lights out! Something went wrong and the

What else could have gone out? What has quit? If I cross the poles on
the
relay the starter kicks over. I'm lost and not doing a very good job of
stating my problem. Help please...

What year is your TR6? If it is a 74 then it might be your ignition
interlock. It will not allow you to start the engine if there is a seat
occupant but no seatbelt closure. These modules act funny from time to
time. Try buckling the seat belt and try it agin.
