Jim,
Did you try a nut cracker? (no I don't mean the kind you use on walnuts or
lobsters).  They can be hard to get in tight places, but if you can get a
grip on it and still wrench it closed, it works pretty good.

If you don't have one, you should be able to get one from any auto parts
store. Ok, I confess, I got mine from JC Whitney.
