Please help if you know anything about this; I did ask a bit earlier but struck
out, perhaps due to my question not being clear enough.
I have a late TR3a head in which I intend to install new valve guides. The
original
specs from Bentley assume a) cast iron guides, and b) 3/8" diameter exhaust
valve stems.
If my exhaust valves turn out to be bad, I will convert to the narrower stemmed
5/16" TR4 versions.
So, anyone who's BTDT, I could use your help - the new silicon-bronze or
manganese-bronze
guides will have to be reamed, and I don't know to what dimension. So what I'm
trying to find out is:
1. For the intake valves, what's the spec and tolerance on the i.d. of the new
guides?
2. For the exhaust valves, same question with two variables:
a) if I keep the existing valves, and
b) if I get the new ones.
(I'm assuming that the spec may differ than that of the cast iron guides due
to differences in thermal expansion.)
TIA
