Sherman, check the coil. Where the coil is mounted on the TR4 is really
suspect. The heat from the engine will destroy it. Replace with a comparable
12V. coil to check. I had this problem on my '4. It now sports a Lucas Sport
Coil and I've had no problems. Be sure NOT to use a later TR6 coil. These
are 6 volt, designed to be used with a ballast resistor.
