As it happens, my temp tag expired Wednesday about the time I failed
emissions, and I hadn't been round to the County offices yet for another
-- which will allow me to visit the State specialists for a
'67-and-older $75 tune/waiver.
Still, the weekend was gorgeous, and a buddy was flying in from Ohio. On
the way back from the airport, we passed an Arapahoe County Sherrif's
truck at a light, and he opted to hold an impromptu british car show. I
pulled over at the first side street, careful to park in the shade.
Which was the first thing he mentioned, seemed like a good sign. <g> I
was polite as always and when he suggested that maybe the tags had
expired while I'd left the car at the airport -- my friend's luggage
being on the bench seat -- I admitted that I just couldn't leave the TR4
in the garage with my buddy coming in from out of town.
I'd like to think my charm got me off with a smiling warning, but I
suspect it was the car. <g>
