A while back I asked for opinions on the value of my nicely restored MK I
Spitfire. FYI I sold it for $5750 and had several people on a list willing
to pay me the full $6500 asking price if the first deal fell through. My
take on the supposedly low values of Spitfire is that it has more to do with
the condition of the typical Spitfire than the value. You don't see many
really nice early Spitfires but the ones that are out there may be worth
more than we give them credit for. I'm sure I could have sold mine for more
based on the response I received.
