Ken:

Will do. The air valves are in fact interchangeable. Assuming
dwell/timing/coil/etc. OK, I wonder if you should try different viscosities
in your dashpots and see what that might do. It also takes just one little
bit of dirt on the air valve to prevent it from sliding up via pressure.
Maybe you could pull the suction covers, remove your air valves, and scrub
out everything. Check the needle level by sight and "zero them out" by
leveling delrin washer with air valve bottom. Then shoot from the hip like I
do!!!

I'm fixing to be in the same shape you are. I'm having problems with the
front carb on my 71 TR6 running very rich. I've tried to adjust it leaner,
but the plugs still end up very black. I have another set of carbs and I
was going to try changing the air valve to see if that helps. Please info
me on all replies you get. I'm not sure if the air valves are
interchangeable or not, but I hope so.

Thanks,

Ken

Listers:

Are Zenith Stromberg air valves (the piston w/ the adj. needle in it)
interchangeable between carbs? What do the numbers in the air valves mean
(12, or 13)?
