If you remove the glove box container (in a left hand drive car) you'll see
a grommet up on the firewall with a group of electical leads going through
it. If you're careful you can use a long screwdriver to pry the catch open.
Be very careful though not to short out on the battery terminal. It is
also a good idea for future situations to run a back-up cable through the
same hole in case the main one breaks again. Just leave it hanging behind
the glove box so you know what it is.
