With hopes of finding a fresh engine to drop into my TR4 while I rebuild the
smoking original, I called Damon Clark, the fellow who posted this ad:
"1967 TRIUMPH TR4A IRS, engine has been overhauled.
Car has not been started for 10 yrs. Some rust. Complete with
fiberglass top. $1,500.00, (719) 564-0032 Location: Pueblo, CO"
Unfortunately, while the engine only has 120 miles on it, those miles were 10
years ago, before the car was parked out in the mountains west of Pueblo (which
is itself south of Colorado Springs). So while it's not a fit for me, it could
be for a Triumph lister looking for a TR4A project or a donor to keep their own
car on the road. Of course, he would prefer to see it restored.
He reports rust in the rockers and floorboards at least, and since the car was
only primered, it has surface rust... well, likely on all panels. But he has new
seat covers, a new dash, some new chrome, good gauges.... The glass in the top
is broken, but otherwise okay as I recall. I didn't go into much detail, since
it's not a fit for me, but I offered to post it to the list, so there it is....
