The process is well described in any service manual, but simply put, you
insert the appropriate thickness blade of the gauge (0.010, 0.012, etc.)
between the valve stem and the rocker, then, with the adjusting nut on the
rocker slightly loosened, you turn the screw until the blade of the gauge
can just slightly slide back and forth.  Then, holding the screw stable
with the screwdriver, you retighten the nut.
