I think I solved the leak I had on the new Grose jets I put in my
Strombergs. I took the carb off. Everything looked OK with the float.
Still no liquid inside it. I tested the carb without the float chamber in a
shallow plastic dish filled with alcohol and attached a hose and funnel
which I also filled with alcohol. The float seemed to work OK, and the jet
seemed to work. But I lightly tapped on the jet ball, thinking there might
be burrs or something inside which were keeping it from seating properly.
The ball traveled up further inside the jet body after this and I had to
readjust the float. Tested it with the alcohol for awhile and it seemed to
work better. Put it back in the car, and so far the carb has not
leaked(knock on wood). The front carb seems a little wet, so I might try
this on that one later.
