Hi,
I'll give you a "rule of thumb" for you cam valve lash settings:
If the cam lift is in the the .330 - .340 range of lift _at the valve_,
then use the stock settings - you have a stock cam.
If the cam lift is more like in the .390 to .410 range, you have a "hotter"
cam and you should adjust the valve lash in the .014 range.
If the cam lift is over .425, then your lash should be more like .018.
Remember - "looser" is better, if you have to be wrong. Set 'em too tight,
and you burn up your valves. Also note that you can set the intake valves a
little "tighter" than the exhaust valves... but err on the loose side.
Note: the real test for the lash is probably related to the duration of the
cam, as this defines how long the valve sits on the valve seat and thus
tranfer it's heat to the head (where hopefully the cooling system will
dissipate the heat). But as another wheel of thumb, longer duration cams
usually have more lift...
