Ken,

1) Yes but the cost is way in excess of a new one (Plastic)
2) Some concours nuts won't care whether or not they work just so long as
it looks right.

For my money I would mount the old one where it should be and connect some
wire (correct colors, of course) to it  and hide a new one where it won't
be seen.

JMO.
