On the stationary engine query I posted yesterday, a number of things have
happened.
1. I've been inundated with *helpful* replies from so many of you - thanks
thanks thanks.
This list is clearly one with 'catholic' tastes and wide interests whereas the
SE list
appears monosyllabic and populated with freezers.
2. Got got more leads to websites and newsgroups than I ever thought possible
3. The 1912 (?) Goold Shapley and Muir has discovered the potential for another
50 odd rpm
(and perhaps the half horsepower shown on the commission plate) since the old
engine oil
was removed with a screwdriver and replaced with new.
4. The 3/4 ton Ruston and Hornsby has no brakes to its wheels and has to be
chocked when
running. My good big toe almost involuntarily found itself as a candidate chock
until I
felt it was in my better interests to make an alternative decision.
Thanks guys - this is truly an illustrious and highly knowledgable list.
