Hi,
It is with pride that I announce the "re-birth" of one of Coventry's
finest, CR1871 - a 2000 pound '73 TR6 reincarnated as a Silver LHD race
car. Named Khartu - for amuzement purposes only, the car fired to life at
just after 2:00 PM on Friday, 7-Apr-2000 in beautiful Stoneham, MA, USA.
After a brief run-in on the jackstands, the car was lowered to the ground
for a photo-op just outside the doors of the "Garage of Dreams". The
proud father was unable to push the car back into the garage, so a quick
acceleration/brake test was performed in the driveway - Khartu responded
by "tagging" the asphalt with two nicely parallel black streaks, approx.
9 inches wide and 10 feet long.
The weekend was not without dissapointment, however, as the local racing
authorities frown on open exhausts in autocross events held near the
"urban sprawl" that constitutes much of the eastern USA. None of the
local shops could accomodate the installation of a custom exhaust prior
to the first SCCA event of the year, so the debut of Khartu will have to
wait a bit longer - possibly early May.
I would like to thank everyone that provided me with physical and
emotional support over the last two years' efforts to make this car a
reality. Now it's time to RACE!!! YEEEE-HAAAA.
I hope to have a lot of fun with this car in the upcoming years...

p.s. if you have a Lucas distributor in your Triumph - CHUCK IT and get a
Mallory unit. Very nice indeed!
