Thanks for all the comments on my original "Showroom Condition" email. I
really enjoyed reading everyone's comments.
This forum has been a real learning experience.
Tomorrow morning I am having my 75 TR6 appraised. I spoke to the appraiser
yesterday when we scheduled this appointment. He is known to be a very
reputable appraiser. My question to him was (and heres my dilemna): After
you view and research the value of other TR6's how do you come up with my
cars value? He said he takes comparables of cars in my cars condition and
comes up with a value. I said, well I think my car is in exceptional
condition, how can you realistically figure my cars condition to others in
the equasion (sp)? He says he is a classic car judge and can tell vehicles
that go beyond the normal value of comparables. That seemed kind of lame to
me, but when all is said and done, I guess your at the appraiser discretion
when he is valuing your car. Other than for insurance purposes, what other
value does the appraisal serve and has anyone used it for selling their car
in the bargaining process?
I'll never forget when I was at a local outdoor car show that had about 200
classic cars, I was looking at the really nice 66 Mustang convertible and I
asked the owner if the car was for sale. He said, buddy every car here is
for sale........Virg 75 tr6
