from todays motor magazin "Auto Motor und Sport",
they are reporting about the rough draft of BMW how to go on without Rover and
that they are planning 23 new cars for the next 5 years, including:
new Mini summer 2001
Mini roadster 2002, as a sustitute/competitor for the MGF
Mini Traveller 2003
new 2 series 2003/2004, based on the R 35 and R 55 design, engines from BMW
engine production plant in Hams Hall/England, Rover 35 and 55
cars were originally planned as competitors for the VW Golf
Rolls Royce 2003
The new Minis will probably be called "COOPER"
They also say that the new Mini will be much expensiver to make than it was
intented. Thatīs because ex BMW manager Reitzle, now responsible for Ford in
the
UK, wanted a too sophisticated car. They quote a present BMW manager: " The
only
thing this car is missing now is the 12 cylinder engine".
