Hi Paul
Another good one for sparks etc is the metal watch band across the hot
terminal to ground or to the starter terminal on the solenoid, BTDT, had a
circular burn round my wrist so be warned, make sure the rubber boots are
intact on the hot terminals on the starter circuit!!!
