Apparently the several people who failed to appreciate Ken's sense of humor
have upset him. I am one of those people, so Ken I apologize. However, I
will offer the following; A person who uses their TR as primary
transportion - stupid? Perhaps to some, but not to the person does it. For
a number of years a TR6 was not only my primary source of transportion, it
was my only source of transportion. British Leyland failed to mention to me
that it wasn't meant to be used that way. In a previous thread when a
person paid more for a TR6 than Ken thought was reasonable ( I think it was
$21,600 ), he referred to it as "taking it to a new level of stupidity".
Perhaps, but not to the person who paid the money. In fact, I believe there
are actually at least two or three of us that are not (as you put it) "beer
swilling, knucklebusting, mechanically inclined gents". I am one, although
I love beer and have busted many knuckles and other bones during a 25 year
career as a police officer in D.C., but when it comes to fixing a car I am
out of my area of expertise. Does that mean I shouldn't own a Triumph? No
I don't think so, I love them and I love to drive them fast, but when it
needs work I pay the money and take it to someone that knows what they are
doing, because I don't. Further when I bought my current TR6 I was willing
to spend more to get a car that was done right up front by someone who knew
how to do it. I didn't spend $21,000, but frankly that doesn't mean that I
wouldn't. I've seen many restored triumphs that easily have more money than
that in them. Some jokes are not all that funny to person that is on the
receiving end. Am I uptight, no I don't think so. Do I like jokes in poor
taste, not really. Do I have anything against you, No, but I do wish you
could find a another word to use when talking about people with values
different than your own.
