Notice? Probably. (I tend to look at numbers a lot.) Deduct points? No.
Overdrives were catalogued options and could have been added by a dealer
to help make a sale, or shortly after to keep a customer happy, or at any
other time for any other reason.
What might cause me, as a judge, to deduct point(s), would be sloppy
installation. Examples might include using wood for gearbox/OD mounts
(I've seen it on an old Spitfire) or large aluminum blocks to shim forward
an engine to accommodate the greater length (I've seen it on the same
Spitfire), or a GE home lightswitch mounted on the dash to actuate the OD
(I haven't seen that one...yet). But done correctly, no problem.
