Hello all. I just purchased a set of some very clean wire wheels off eBay.
The splines on the wheels and matching hubs appear quite serviceable for
many more miles. However, the fifth wheel that was included as the spare
doesn't inspire much confidence. The splines are worn to the point where I
would be loathe to use that wheel if I ran into trouble with a flat. My
question is simple: Once the wheel splines are toast, is there any way to
salvage the wheel? Or should I just turn it into a base for a floor lamp
and just find myself another wheel with good splines? I wouldn't mind
spending a few dollars to refurbish this wheel, but I certainly wouldn't
want to throw good money after bad. Thanks!
