>From what I can remember from this afternoon, I used a white wire with red
stripe, a red or maroon wire as the battery and a white cable as the
accesory. These are the labels on the ignition switch, maybe I missed one,
there was a double white cable hanign there too and a black cable on the
floor. They had undone the ignitions switch so I don't know which goes
where. The car is in a warehouse sop I won't be able to check on this until
next weekend, it's not the kind of neighborhood you can work in at night if
you know what I mean ...
Thanks for the info. I now have a plan of what to look for.

not wood and highback seats that don't tilt. Since I don't have a key for
it, I bought a $7.00 ignition/key combo from Pep Boys after some
experimenting I finally got the new ignition switch to light up the
ignition
light when turned and when fuly cranked it turns the engine over without
any
problems, my problem is that there is no spark at the plugs and I don't
know
how to properly troubleshoot this or bypass switches. The coil has 2 cables
attached but with the ig switch on I get no voltage between them, any help
on how to trace? I checked points all clean, did not pull the plugs because
the screwdriver in the plug wire to the plug head or ground did not produce
any spark.
Any ideas?

Jack,
The white wire going to the coil is the +12 volt supply to the ignition
circuit. You should read 12 volts between this wire and ground (engine
block is convenient) with the switch ON. If not then you didn't get all
the white wires hooked up to the new switch or there is a broken wire
somewhere. If the 12 volts is there note that if the points are open there
will be no voltage across the coil so rotate the engine and measure again.
Next thing to check is the other wire (white with black stripe) may be
broken or there is trouble with the points in the distributor. If the car
has been sitting a long time there may be corrosion on the points which
will not allow current to pass and you will have no voltage across the
coil.
Check these things and report back.
Good luck
Dave
