So far, it appears you've received much good advice. A couple of
additional comments:

I'd be just a bit curious about this. Obviously, anything is possible, and
all might be just fine. But one thing I would do is make sure any and all
paperwork shows the same commission number (VIN) that is found on the car.
Also, with a 1969 Spitfire in the US, there should be an additional
commission number tag on the driver's side windshield post. Note also that
the commission number should begin with FDU (US market) and not simply FD
(other markets). Odds are that no problems would arise in registering the
vehicle if it is NOT a US version, but one never knows what little flags
might pop up at a given state's DMV office. A non-US version might just
take a bit more effort to get through the hoops!
