Heat.  You can make it a number of ways, but can you keep it?  If you
have open rafters you can run those stinkin', noisy "jet engine" heaters
all you want, the heat goes right up through the roof.  If you don't
want to sheet rock your garage,  do what a friend of mine did.  Get some
heavy mil plastic and simply staple yourself a ceiling.  Makes a HUGE
difference in heat retention and drafts.  No, it's not as good as
conventional materials, but It'll be worth the $20 bucks the first cold
night.  Get some old cardboard or carpet to lay on too.
I have a Kerosun heater which works great, but most of the heat is free,
generated by actually parking cars in there after coming home.
