Tom, >Then I'm correct in thinking that you cannot test the overdrive on the > bench. Not true. I've seen OD tranny's strapped firmly to a bench and then a 1/2 inch drive chucked up to the Tranny input shaft (the part that goes in the back of the crank) The drill will get you enough RPM's to check the OD engagement and probably get some decent pressure on a gage, if you have one too.
