I believe that article (or at least a similar one) was originally written
by Ken Gillanders at BFE. The jumping out of gear was under hard braking
on a downhill turn on the race track, and what they found was that they
could not achieve the specified selector load when using the synthetic oil,
even with stronger springs and shims.
Ken's recommendation of 20W50 oil is for _racing_ oil, because of it's
lower detergency. The detergents tend to keep wear particles suspended in
the oil, where they cause further wear, instead of letting them settle out
as 'sludge'.
