synthetic oil

I see there seems to be some discussion about the merits of synthetic oil.
My biggest problem with it is that  because of its durability, people tend
to leave it in longer (isn't that the reason to spend more in the first
place?). Well, I believe that dirt and moisture contaminate synthetic oil at
the same rate as the "real" stuff. I believe that whatever you have in there
should come out every 3,000 miles. Watcha think?
