List,
Columbus, GA is not an easy place to restore car. Can't get powder
coating done, not a decent machine shop, can't get a TR6 driveshaft
balanced and near impossible to get a decent paint job. One thing
Columbus does have is Joe Hooten, Inc., a shop that rebuilds starters
and alternators for retailers. I've never had a TR starter or alternator
they have rebuilt fail. Matter of fact, when I was restoring CF38690 I
explained to the owner, David Hooten, what I was doing, and they rebuilt
my alternator, bead blasted and clear coated the cast aluminum, and
buffed out the black plastic cover so that the alternator looked NOS.
The cost? $65.00. This included uprated internals, so I never have an
ign. light glow at idle with the headlights and air on.
If anyone wants to keep the original appearance of their starter or
alternator but have the reliability of a Delco unit, I recommend
