Someone on the list was asking about the spring washer on the main
bearing cap bolts.

I just ran across the Triumps Only, Inc "Triumph Technical Service
Bulletin"
#71-A-13 "Crankshaft Main Bearing Cap Bolts - Spitfire Mark IV, GT-6 Mark
III and TR-6" of June 1971 that states:

"The spring washer, Partr Number WL0210, has been deleted from the main
bearing cap bolts on current production engines. Deletion of this washer
has
been required the introduction of a bolt 1/8 of an inch shorter than the
previous condition, to avoid bottoming in the cylinder block.

The part number of the shorter bolt is HB 1023 and can be used for all
service replacements. Tighening torque figures for the cap bolts are
unchanged and are as follows: TR-6 and GT-6 - 55 to 66 lbs. ft.
-- Spitfire 50 to 55 lbs.ft."

Hope this helps.
