Hello All. For starters, the VTR convention was well planned and executed.
One central location for all guest and one starting point for all events.
TRF Summer Party was scattered all over Indiana. No direction to TRF itself.
No, British signs on routes to and from. The racing events where great.
Drags where professional done. Auto cross was in a Large parking lot. But
did not have a large enough run off area after finish line. TRF was 25 +
miles from my hotel and like I said no signs on route. Got lost about three
times. Never made it any of the parties at the grounds of TRF. To far away
after a day of events and dinner. Over priced too.
Did make it the Coventry Inn and Pub. The food was great and prices for
dinner and drink where in line for the area. (cheap). The Inn was like any
other pub or local watering hole. I did not feel like I was in an English
pub. Just everyone spoke Yankee talk. 2 1/2 hour waiting for a dinner table.
Bar stool was OK for me and no waiting. I was glad to see the Mason Dixie
line on the way home. I did get a speeding warning ticket in Pa. on I-80 too.
There was a lot more trailer queen at TRF party. And about 70% of the car
where Triumphs. I did not stay to see the movie. But did eat the pig at the
out door movie. They cannot cook BQ up there either. Need to stick to red
meat. One thing that was nice. Was the weather. 70s and wind. Now it is
still in high 90s here and no rain. But, there is a 20 X 40 pool in my back
yard for skinny dipping or regular swimming. That is enough. Next events
for Gretchen and me is Memphis, TN. and Lake City, Fla. (VTR) And for me
between them two is Talladega speed week with the guys. That will be enough
for 1999 John Flintstone, GA
