Regarding the TR6 reverse question:  I have owned 5 low mileage orignal
TR6's (4-74's with under 25K miles,  and 1-76 with 20K miles).  NONE of
these cars had a step to get the trans into reverse....at least I never had
to lift the shifter!  There is a spring loaded detent in the shifter that
requires you to "pop" the shift lever over into reverse, but nothing that
requires lifting the lever....at least from CF17433U and up
