Scions...
I'm in the process of replacing both side Inner Axle Shaft Bearings and Oil
Seals on my '76TR6. My question is how much force is too much force. I
have been able to remove the inner axle shaft assemmbly from the axle
casing. I've removed the nyloc nut and washer from the end of the inner
axle shaft. Haynes pg 141 number 8 says:
"Using a two leg puller seperate the flange from the inner axle shaft. An
alternate method is to place the flange on top of the jaws of a firm vice
and with the shaft in a vertical position tap the end of the inner axle
shaft with nyloc nut refitted to ensure the thread is not damage". Since I
don't have a two leg puller I am trying to do the alternate method. My
question is how much to "tap". I've given it several good hits (certainly
in my way of thinking I have gone way beyond "tapping") and it won't budge.
Are there any other tricks or am I missing something. I really don't want
to give it hits with all my might...something just doesn't sound right when
I ponder that move.

Advice from those that have been there before would be appreciated
