I had the same problem with my steering even though I had put in new felts, I
eliminated it by using a teflon lubricant which came in a aerosol spray can. It
sprays as a light liquid and then "gells" into a thick grease. I sprayed it
into the column without even removing the steering wheel, using the extension
tube provided by the mfr. I forget the brand name, but will try to find it if
you're interested. I had to do two sprays to eliminate the squeak. It is a
great lubricant when rebuilding an engine for pre-lubrication of bearings,
rings, etc. BTW, I think graphite is the preferred lubricant when installing
felts, but not sure. I used moly grease, and that may have been my problem the
first go round.
