drain plug

Suggested needed.  Have a 1973 TR6 that I recently purchased.  The car
came equipped with a broken drain plug for draining coolant from the
block.  The plug is broken off approximately 1/2 to 3/4 inches below the
outer block surface.  Has anyone had this problem and how did you go
about removing the broken plug (I'm hoping to accomplish this without
lifting the motor or taking the engine apart.

Any suggestions will be most appreciated.
