I paid about $550 to have my spit tub done which I think was a pretty good
price (inside and out except for the underside). I'm located in the S F Bay
Area, Northern California. Can't say whether the use of sand was a bad idea
because it hasn't been painted yet and I'm only after a daily driver.
Also had the frame done, that was about $150 - worth doing in my case
because I found a big crack in the main frame rail right behind on of the
engine mounts - just about broken in two. Not sure I would have spotted it
without the sandblasting. Painted it all up with POR15 - looks OK, not
great but good enough. Pumped a couple of pints of Eastwoods heavy duty
anti-rust through the rails - sucker should last a lifetime.
It seemed like a lot of money at the beginning but after a couple of days
of trying it myself (messing with chemical strippers and sandpaper) it
suddenly looked cheap.
Good luck.
